New Beginning This is not the end of the world.

It’s 10 o’clock in the morning and I am still lying on my bed staring at the ceiling. I don’t wish to get up to welcome the new day. It is going to be the same, as the past few weeks have been. We had nothing else to do, apart from being locked indoors. The day seems so long since there isn’t much option to entertain one within the constraints of our homes.

Reluctantly, I get up from my bed as lying for so long has given me a backache. I try to not look at the News app notification because the rate by which COVID-19 seem to be increasing is dreadful. I no longer wish to know how many new confirmed cases have come into existence or how many of them have lost their lives to this deadly virus. It seems never-ending, and the rate by which it seems to spread, end of COVID-19 doesn’t seem to be near.

The things I used to hate (like going to office on a Monday), now seems to be a desire. As the days are passing, I am starting to crave for these things more. Things like going to office, going to the market (be it just for grocery shopping), going for a stroll at the park, and so many things just related to stepping out of the house. Why is it that when we are restricted to do something, we want to do it more?

Sometimes I wonder what worse than this could happen to me, but immediately I am stuck by the plight of the poor, mainly the daily wagers. As the country is in complete shutdown, we are still sitting at the comforts of our homes, with more than enough food to fill our stomachs, yet we are still complaining. If we think about the daily wagers, think about the life they must be leading with no sufficient money to even feed themselves and their family two times a day, the doctors who risk their lives and the lives of their family members just to help and cure the ones already infected by this virus, the police who are out on the streets so that we stay indoors, the grocery shop owners who open their shops just to provide us the essential food items so that we may not starve, and so many other such people who are out of the comfort of their homes just to provide a comfortable stay for us. Should we let their sacrifice go waste by giving up? It doesn’t sound right, does it?

What we can do instead is have faith in the Almighty and look at the positive. Look up at the sky; doesn’t it seem clearer and blue? These days we can even catch glimpse of a star studded sky at night. The air quality has improved drastically with no vehicles on the road and the sea has become cleaner. This time has, in fact, given a chance to Mother Earth to replenish itself once again.

Scientist all over the world is trying their best to find a vaccine against this virus, and they are bound to find one soon. In a few days, when this virus is under control, we will have a cleaner and healthier environment to ourselves. This time is temporary, but the positive changes that it will bring will be there for a long time. It will be a new beginning to a pollution free environment, which was not possible otherwise.

This has been correctly quoted in the below lines:

“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.”

Lao Tzu

So, we may be going through a very tough time as of now, but this is bound to end soon, giving way to a new beginning. So, hold on to your faith a little longer, and this shall soon pass. Till then, stay safe stay home.
