’Tis the Day!

Finally, it was the day of Jade’s 18th birthday. The 9th of December arrived in a twirl!

The party of attaining adulthood was at La’Clair. The guest list was extravagant. Jade decided to wear a sweetheart neckline off-shoulder short black dress coupled with fur heels. She looked stunning. On the other hand, Emily was wearing a silver short dress with high heels. Emily was too eager to do Jade’s makeup. But unfortunately, she messed up her eyeliner. Oops how can you blame her, she was no expert. And fortunately, there wasn’t any flaw that a layer of concealer can’t hide after all.

The party started at 8 pm. Jade’s dad Michael dropped the girls off at the venue and before Jade disappeared inside to rock the party, he kissed her on her forehead and wished her happy birthday.

Aiden on the other hand decided to be there at the venue to protect Jade as the party had gathered a lot of attention. He couldn’t resist seeing Jade on her special day as well. So, he went there by shapeshifting himself invisible as a sheet of glass with the help of a witch friend Bree. Bree had a special place, a soft corner in her heart for Aiden. After all, he was her partner in crime.

Aiden’s jaw dropped as he saw Jade. She looked so pretty that he couldn’t get his eyes off her but then he soon realized that she was with Ethan. The fear that he might never be able to be with her because of their difference crept into his soul. She being a human, and he being a supernatural half-human, the difference which will forever keep him away from the person who makes him feel something that he never thought he was capable of feeling. The sorrow was that he couldn’t even let her know that he exists. Seeing Jade and Ethan dance together, under dim lights, filled his heart with a strange remorse.

Do you want peanut butter with jelly, Aiden?

As much as he wanted to go up to her, he hesitated.

Bree was by his side to comfort him. For that matter, you can’t say that Bree and Aiden didn’t have anything between them after seeing the chemistry between them. Breeden used to be a thing back when they were kids, but that liking turned out into a much better friendship between the two.

On the other hand, Emily was enjoying herself more than anyone in the whole room. She even caught the eye of Kol Layland, who later joined the two by shapeshifting as well.

The party was fun-filled and enjoyable, with dim disco lights and classical pop music being played. Everyone was hooked to the rhythm and dance beats.

Soon it was time to cut the cake. It was a huge chocolate cake. All her friends sang for her. Jade cut huge pieces of the cake each for Emily and Ethan. Emily playfully rubbed some chocolate cream from the cake on her face. All of Jade’s face was full of crème chocolate cake with some of it dripping down to her dress. Thankfully it was black so not overtly visible. Everyone had a good laugh. Even Aiden had a wide fond smile plastered on his face. He adored Emily’s sense of humor, and Kol adored everything about her.

Jade then went to the restroom to clean her face. She was accompanied by Emily, and everyone else was back to dancing, drinking, eating and having a blast of a party night.

While wiping her face Jade asked Emily if being with Ethan was the right choice. Also, that she wouldn’t want to hurt him in any way. Emily advised her to chill and do whatever she feels right because at the end of the day it’s her life. Jade felt somewhat relieved. They then took a few selfies, giggled at some girl talks and then left the restroom to get back to the party. As soon as they came out from the washroom, Emily felt someone or something following her but when she looked behind hoping to see somebody, to her surprise there was no one. She felt a strange and eerie presence. Now, you can’t blame her if she wasn’t able to see the invisible Kol Layland. She then ignored the feeling and moved forward. But it wasn’t the same for Jade and Aiden. Since the restroom was located a floor up, while coming down the stairs, Jade saw someone leaving the party through the back door. She could make out the silhouette of a person in the confused visibility of color-changing dim lights. She felt she was being pulled towards the quickly fading figure. She didn’t have any idea why, but she went all the way out to see who it was. There was some sort of a magnetic attraction over which Jade had little or no control. She ran behind the receding shadow as fast as she could in her heels. Aiden saw her and immediately became alert. He wanted to find out what Jade was running behind. Since he was invisible to the physical world and could be seen by other supernatural creatures only, Jade couldn’t possibly see him. When she could finally catch up with the shadow, she saw a human being almost 6’2 in height wearing a black leather jacket standing with his back towards Jade. She thought it was Aiden and called out his name.

“Why are you running away from me, Aiden?”

He questioned her, confused, “Ca … can you see me?” His voice stuttered.

Jade raised her voice a little and said unsurely, “Of course, I can see you, why, … why wouldn’t I be able to see you?”

Aiden was confused as hell and couldn’t believe what he just heard but somewhere in his heart he was happy as well as bothered that a creature was behind Jade and that her being a supernatural creature wouldn’t be easy for him to protect. Moreover, he had no idea who she was, and this could bring danger to the whole supernatural realm. She could probably be the danger.

Aiden had a thousand questions crowding in his mind, all seeking immediate answers. What kind was she? Who were her ancestors? How could she see the supernatural beings? Did she actually possess any special power?

Aiden asked Jade how she managed to remember him and who she was?

Jade happily replied that she can never forget who Aiden is because after all he had saved her life. Aiden froze for a moment; he couldn’t believe that his memory erasing technique did not actually work on Jade. He was also overwhelmed that he had a special place in Jade’s heart.

Jade reiterated that she would always remember Aiden no matter what. Aiden wished her a happy birthday and left somewhat in a hurry, which again confused Jade and she felt a bit sad too seeing Aiden hurriedly going away leaving her.

Jade had made up her mind to be with Ethan, but today after meeting Aiden she believed that it would be good if she left Ethan and could figure out all the mystery about Aiden. She also kept thinking about the other weird question that Aiden had asked about being able to see him. Meeting Aiden once again gave her some sort of hope and she once again wanted to find more about him.

She then hurriedly entered the party and approached Ethan, hugged him and blurted out that she would not be able to continue the relationship. Also that it was not his fault, it was her. She doesn’t know what to do and doesn’t want to hurt his feelings and that he will always be her dear friend. Ethan stood there shocked and couldn’t believe what just happened. Gradually Ethan came to his senses and tried to accept what Jade just told him.

Aiden on the other hand told Bree and Kol about Jade and the fact that she was able to see him. They were shocked too as Bree’s magic is no normal magic, she is one of the most powerful witches in the superworld.

They were not able to figure out the existence of any ‘Harris bloodline’ in their realm of superworld.

Bree suddenly conjectured that Jade could possibly be a part of the superworld and that her ancestral line might have left the superworld long back, maybe before the record keeping started as far back as the 1700s, when a few superworld’s most prestigious families left their legacy for having saved the supernatural world. It was something related to a demoniac war. She didn’t know much about it as all the artefacts carrying its information were long ravaged and burned to ashes in a castle fire. As soon as Bree said this, Kol could fix the pieces of the puzzle together. It was a possibility that Jade is a part of them and is now being hounded by the old-souled vicious demon.

Three of them dispersed to report the incident and the theories they had to their respective part of the superworld. On the other hand, in the human world, as soon as Emily came to know about the sad and sudden ‘Jadthan’ breakup, she went to get clarification from her best friend. Jade then told her about the whole Aiden incident. Emily also confessed to Jade about her feeling that she was being followed by someone when they left the restroom and the fact that she could see nobody around. The girls concluded that Aiden wasn’t alone and that there are more people seemingly invisible like him who carry dark secrets. They were desperate to find out more about the lurking mysteries that shrouded them and terrified them.
