I must go now,

It’s time to settle

Back into the peace

The reason that made me believe

In the possibility of a joy,

Far beyond my swaying mind.

I retreat back to the simple

Pleasures of star-crossed lovers,

And the kindness of strangers

That prove all is not lost

And there is still a chance

We will be exactly what we need.

I lean into the comforting smell

Of leather bound books

And freshly poured ink

As I marvel at the glory

In spring’s early sky.

And at the moon nearly full

Just one night shy.
