As they would go.

I didn’t want to hear you tell me

Of how my wayward choices would

End up hurting me.

I didn’t want you to show me all

Of the times I cast my pearls before

Feet who never intended to walk with me.

I turned my back on you, in hopes

That you would disappear.

But when I glanced back over my shoulder-

Praying that you had vanished in thin air,

You were still there –

Hands outstretched and eyes too kind to ignore.
