Did you write as a child?
No, I never felt the need or the interest to write as a child. I started writing poems only when I was a research scholar.

Born in the South, how did you develop a love for writing Hindi stories and poems?
I started to learn Hindi at the age of 12. As a teenager, I finished the Rashtrabhasha exams conducted by DBH PRACHAR Sabha in Chennai. When I had to teach my children Hindi, I was motivated to continue my higher education in Hindi. While doing my M. Phil., I started writing poems and stories in Hindi.

How important is it to understand the source of one’s inspiration?
With my experience with the Hindi language, it is essential to understand the situation that inspires one to become an author. Those who regularly feel inspired tend to be more engaged, confident, and motivated to create new things.

Living in the feeling of inner happiness and peace is self-religion. Please explain.
Though many religions trace their origin to our country Bharat, those religions also originated by living in the feeling of inner happiness and peace only.

Today's women's time is divided into pieces. Could you please elaborate on this?
From my own experiences, I would say that I have many roles to play, such as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother in the family and as a teacher, scholar, writer, poetess, author, and so forth in the world of education.

Do you show your work in progress to anyone?
Yes, family members and friends show interest in my progress. Sharing your ‘work in progress’ raises a flag that identifies your current position. It shows the direction your work is taking and invites people to share their opinions.

Can poetry be popular while saying something unpopular?
Yes, definitely. It’s a very powerful medium for diverse voices to speak and for others to listen to the voices, even though they are unpopular. It can say undesirable things in short and sweet words while being popular.
