About the Author

Rithika Anand is a 10th grade student of G.K. Shetty Vivekananda Vidyalaya Junior College, Chennai. She is a bookaholic and started reading from a very young age, a habit acquired from her father. Later on, she took to writing and has written several stories. She is currently working on her novel. She likes fiction and appreciates a funny book. She describes books as a way to escape reality and the constant stress of exams. “I go into a different world and forget everything else. I usually finish a novel in a day or two. I can never think of leaving a book in the middle, that would just kill me,” she says. She feels books are a better way of relaxation than watching television. She reads a chapter before the day of her exams just to calm her mind but wouldn’t recommend this to others. Reading is limited only to short stories even in higher classes. Therefore, she urges youngsters to read novels. She says that books make her confident and fluent in English. Her speech and writing have improved a great deal. Her favorite books are The Harry Potter series and The Hunger Games. Her favorite authors are Dan Brown, James Patterson, L. J. Smith and John Green. She doesn’t usually read non-fiction or biographies as it reminds her of school books. However, the autobiography of Malala Yousafzai inspired her a lot and made her feel proud to be a girl. She would like to be a renowned author someday and would like to put a smile on the faces of her readers.
